Within the physical body, there are a number of energy channels that connect the different chakras and transport the subtle energies that enter through chakras into the physical body. There are more than twenty major energy channels, which are nine millimeters in diameter, as well as several hundreds of thousands of small channels, which are less than a millimeter in diameter.
Most published drawings of the chakras and the nadis are artistic impressions or drawings of visualizations of subtle energies that have been felt but not seen. The drawings on this website are technical drawings which give the exact location of the chakras and the nadis.
The Figure below shows the major subtle energy channels (nadis). In this figure, the physical body is seen from the left front.
Here below is a drawing which shows the main colors of the chakra’s. However these colors can change, for example if there is a lot of yellow subtle energy right in front of the throat- or forehead chakra than their color changes into yellow. This is not the case with the nadis , who do not change from color. ↓
The subtle energies of the aura are concentrated in the chakras, and then they flow via the big nadis through other chakras going upward. Other main nadis are connected (see figures 38 to 44) with the channels in the spine. Just behind the chakras are ring-shaped centers to which both the big and small nadis are connected.
The subtle energies that circulate in the chakras are not only drawn into the chakras, but do also interact with subtle energies that circulate in the chakras on other ontological levels.
The number of nadis is generally given as 72.000 or 350.000 nadis. The skin has a surface area of between 1.5-2.0 square metres, which is a surface area of the skin of ± 17500 square centimetres for an adult person.
If there are 72.000 nadis that would mean about 4 nadis per square cm. So the number of nadis is much closer to 350.000.
There are also ring-shaped centers in the spine (blue), which in India are called the granthi.
The Indian system normally mentions five pranas or five streams of live. As shown in the drawings (see figures 38 to 44 here below), there are in fact seven. These last are simplified drawings. ↓

The drawing with the black background (figure 45) is a technical drawing of the subtle energies flowing through the central channel (the Sushumna) into the small nadis and up into the brain. This drawing shows the small nadis as they look when one looks at the brain from the left side. This drawing is not simplified, it is not an artist’ impression. The drawing is in black and white, but in reality the energy coming from the Sushumna is actually the color blue.
Above each of the four lowest blue granthis in the spine is a white flame of ascending energies (see figure 47).
