Basic foundation: Involution and evolution:
General description involution
Involution is a process by which the emanating force or potential gradually descends from the Spirit into the different dimensions of reality, with the physical dimension being the last in the sequence.
Involution, or emanation, is central to neo-platonic philosophy and can also be found in Platonism, Gnosticism, Manichaeism, the Kabbalah, Catharism, esoteric Christianity, Pythagoreanism, and some forms of Hinduism and Buddhism.
These different dimensions that exist after involution are undeveloped and not activated. The process of involution is followed by the process of evolution, which proceeds through successive stages.>

Detailed description involutionary sequence
The teachings of Lurianic Kabbalah describes a cosmology of successive Worlds. The first world that emanated and thus had manifest existence was called ‘Olam ha-Tohu’ or ‘World of points’. This was a state which existed as unformed and unordered points. It was called the ‘World of points’ because at this time they were not related to each other but were in the form of unorganized (chaotic) atomic separateness.
A similar idea is the concept of karma within Jain philosophy which is described as follows: “Karmas are constituted of infinitely small ‘Karma particles’. These particles are made up of non-living particles (pudgals) and are scattered and free floating across the universe. When the soul acts with a passion such as attachment, anger, deceit, greed, etc. it attracts these. These particles on the soul are karma (karmas that do not obscure the true knowledge of the soul are known as Aghati karmas)”.
This puts the concept of karma clearly in the realm of subtle energies. This makes it possible to replace speculative metaphysics with (visually) observable data. What is called karma is formed by the clusters of subtle energies in the human aura. They can be visually observed as different groups of different colors, their location in the total field, movement patterns and so on.

Evolution
The different dimensions that exist after involution are undeveloped and not activated. The process of involution is followed by the process of evolution, which proceeds through successive stages.
On the physical level, we see an ever-increasing complexity of structures.
In terms of the subtle energies, we see the generation and activation of a series of levels of subtle energies, going from the physical world up to the high-causal level, the divine. Although this emergence of the subtle energies starts at the lower levels, these energies cannot be reduced to the physical world. These subtle energies are capable of existing independently from the physical realm.
These different kinds of subtle energies exist not only in the world around us, but also within the human body, where they are much more concentrated and activated.
The activation of these subtle energies unfolds slowly, sequentially, one level after another, gradually obtaining consciousness at these levels. This activation and development of the subtle energies can only start at the lowest level, the emotional level. This is clear not only from visually observing these subtle energies at different levels, but also from the sequence in which the different stages develop according to developmental psychology.
The higher-level subtle energies cannot develop unless there is first adequate development at a lower level. However, permanently activated subtle energies of a certain group of developmental lines (visible in the aura as a certain color) will lead to the gradual development of subtle energies of that color, and thereby of that group of developmental lines at a higher level.
The ultimate meaning of life is to transform the involutionary power into an unfolding evolutionary upward process by which increasingly higher/deeper levels of subtle energies are activated. Finally, the subtle energies on the highest level are activated and high-causal bhava samadhi is permanently realized.

General description evolution
The Kosmic process of evolution starts after the emanation process. This means that the non-activated dimensions of Reality (‘ontological levels’) created in the involution, are now activated in reversed sequence. Because living beings need subtle energies to obtain consciousness, this is the beginning of life. The end goal of this process is to fully activate all dimensions of Reality. To activate an entire ontological level collectively at once, apparently takes to much energy to succeed. Therefore individual development was necessary to gradually activate an entire ontological level before the next ontological level could be activated.

The essential role of the physical world
If the goal of this involutionary and evolutionary process is to develop subtle energies at the divine level (high-causal), then why is the physical world necessary? What would have happened, if the involutionary force had created a whole stratification of levels of existence without the physical world?
The answer is to be found in a parallel evolution. An evolution that took place without a physical world. This has to do with the concept of ‘celestial beings’ that we can find in many spiritual traditions: In Christianity they are called angels. In Judaism there is the concept of mal’akh. In Zoroastrian theology there are the yazatas. In the Hindu Scriptures we find the devas, ‘the shining ones’. In Islam there is the concept of angels, beings created of light. In Buddhism we also find descriptions of Devas.

Separated evolution
What is important here is that these devas represent a separated evolution which is different to that of humanity. They develop through different stages just as humans do, but they have no physical existence. The point here is that the great spiritual traditions like Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Christianity maintain that only humans (and not devas, angels, seraphim, gods or demigods) can realize enlightenment. Christ is above all the angels, the Buddha is above all the devas and so on. Only spiritual beings who have (had) a physical body/existence can reach a high-causal level.
This means that without the physical world the involutionary force would not have enough power after its evolutionary return to reach its source fully activated. And so this is why the physical world was created: Without it, the divine involutionary force could not return fully energized to its source.
Why can humans realize enlightenment while devas, angels and demigods cannot? To answer this question has to do with differences in the subtle energy fields. While the subtle fields of the devas are much larger than those of humans, they are also much more diffuse. The effect of a physical body on the subtle fields enveloping it, is that these fields become highly concentrated. They are much denser than the fields of a deva. The human body with its chakra system is responsible for this condensing of subtle energy fields. This concentration of the energy fields increases their capacity to develop, particularly up and including the high-causal level.

Levels
Subtle energies that transcend the physical level are the carriers of consciousness and they form the connection between biological forms and the Absolute/consciousness. They are stratified over twelve ontological levels, ranging from the ‘etherical’-level up to the ‘high-causal’-level. With every level the energy-potentiality of the subtle energies present at that level increases, as they are active on distinctly different and higher ontological levels.

Levels of consciousness
An individual human consciousness proceeds through a series of stages. Each stage brings more possibilities to perceive and understand Reality of its inner- and outer world at ever increasing depth. These levels are illuminated by various well demonstrated developmental lines in developmental psychology.
If one examines the historical archeological and anthropological data relating to the history of man, it becomes clear that the development that took place has progressed in several distinct collective developmental levels.
This development did not take place in a linear(ly) unfolding process, but in transformations that occur in quantum like, discontinuous leaps.
From these transformations new structures of consciousness did emerge, each with new (fundamentally different) ways of experiencing reality in ever-increasing levels of depth.
This is why Kosmic involution and evolution are necessary, because the activation of high-causal energies can only begin from a low level, thereby bringing the involutionary force highly enriched back to its source.
So the goal of life is to develop subtle energies at all levels, and finally to realize permanent high-causal bhava samadhi – the light body.
The ultimate meaning of life is to transform the involutionary power into an unfolding evolutionary upward process by which increasingly higher/deeper levels of subtle energies are activated. Finally, the subtle energies on the highest level are activated and high-causal bhava samadhi is permanently realized.
It is important to realize that the emanation process continues through time. This means an ‘emanation stream’ is still present from the High Causal level ‘down’ to the physical level. It doesn’t stop being present when the evolutionary journey starts.

The number of levels
Many philosophers mix up ontology and complexity and because of that they suppose that ontological levels are increasing in complexity. If that was the case, then the number of levels wouldn’t be limited because complexity has no upper limit (there is always the highest number + one). But ontological development deals with increasing union and not with increasing complexity. Abstract thinking is simpler than concrete thinking and intuition is without process so even simpler than abstract thinking. Furthermore if there is involution than the ontological levels are pre-given. The phenomenological data indicates that the number of ontological levels is twelve.
Implicated orders
Higher ontological levels develop out of the lower (down → top). Higher ontological levels structure the lower levels (top → down). For example logical thinking develops out of emotional reactions and logical thinking structures emotional reactions.

Hierarchy or stratification
Many of the developmental sequences are called hierarchy, however a hierarchy is a top → down system and many developmental sequences are in two directions, top → down and down → top.

Negentropy
According to the second law of thermodynamics everything should move from order to chaos. The fact that highly complex ordered systems could develop, such as the human body, cannot be explained by mechanistic principles, but finds its origin in higher ontological ordering.

Ontology vs. Complexity
There is a difference in ontological development which goes from separateness to union, and complexity development which goes from simple to complex. The most philosophical systems do not differentiate between the two.
Lateral development
Were the vertical stages of developmental lines represent increasing possibilities to perceive and understand Reality at ever increasing depth, a person can laterally expand his or her consciousness in one or more developmental lines at any level. One of Howard Gardner’s ‘multiple intelligences’ (‘bodily-kinesthetic intelligence’) is a clear example of a lateral expanding capability at the physical level. In the octagon lateral capacity is divided into A-, B-, C- and D-level.
A-level indicates basic human functioning capability in one or more developmental lines at any level. B-level indicates good functioning capability in one or more developmental lines at any level. C-level indicates the capability to excel in one or more developmental lines at any level and can be called ‘talents’. D-level indicates a rare and extraordinary capability (‘genius’) in one or more developmental lines at any level.
The lateral capacity described above directly corresponds to the intensity of the lateral activation of subtle energies at each level in the ‘subtle energies’-corner (also divided into A-, B-, C- and D-level).
The lateral development of subtle energies goes from:
- Particle
- Substructure
- Layer (subfield)
- Field

Primary and secondary qualities distinction
The secondary properties like emotion, pleasure, compassion, love, sympathy, aesthetic appreciation, color, sound and so on, are primary properties in the higher world-spaces. The idea is that all subjective experiences like color, sound, emotion etcetera are not properties of the brain but are properties of subtle energies. It is for this reason that a neurophysiological explanation is not possible. In these kinds of processes subtle energies are involved. The secondary properties are not physical properties but properties of subtle energy fields.

Physical colours
Colour is the visual perceptual property corresponding in humans to the categories called red, blue, yellow, green and others. Colour derives from the spectrum of light (distribution of light power versus wavelength) interacting in the eye with the spectral sensitivities of the light receptors.
Colour categories and physical specifications of colour are also associated with objects or materials based on their physical properties such as light absorption, reflection, or emission spectra.
By defining a colour space, colours can be identified numerically by their coordinates.
Because perception of colour stems from the varying spectral sensitivity of different types of cone cells in the retina to different parts of the spectrum, colours may be defined and quantified by the degree to which they stimulate these cells. These physical or physiological quantifications of colour, however, do not fully explain the psychophysical perception of colour appearance. (Wikipedia)
The subjective perception of colour finds its origin in the higher ontological worlds, where colour is a primary property of subtle energies.

The major domains of reality
According to the Greek philosopher Plato, there three major domains of reality: The Good, the Beautiful, and the True. However there are five irreducible major domains of reality:
- The Aesthetic / Beautiful
- The Cognitive / True
- The Social linguistic / Communicative
- The Moral / Good
- The Spiritual / Meaning
Each have their own institutions:
- Museums
- Science
- Hospitals
- Judicial systems
- Religious institutes
There are other groups but they are combinations of two or more of the main groups.

Balance of the five main groups
On an individual level as well as on a collective level the activation and balance of the five main groups is necessary. On a collective level society becomes dysfunctional when one or more of the main groups is not properly activated.

Developmental lines, groups of multiple intelligences and subtle energies
Until quite recently, in the field psychology, intelligence was seen mainly as a cognitive capacity. It is now understood that there are different multiple intelligences. The question is how these different intelligences are related to the subtle energies. There is a certain connection between the colors of the subtle energies (aura colors) and the multiple intelligences:
- Different forms of cognitive intelligence are seen as different hues of yellow;
- Different forms of spiritual intelligence are seen as different hues of violet;
- Different forms of social/interpersonal intelligence are seen as different hues of green;
- Different forms of affective intelligence are seen as different hues of red;
- Different forms of moral intelligence are seen as different hues of blue.

Transformations
Within human development, certain steps, stages and transitions can be observed. These processes of growth take place in a developmental sequence by which stratified levels within hierarchical systems are activated, one after (and above) another. It is clear that these lines with their developmental stages are academically demonstrated, however it seems to be a total mystery why these levels do appear and why these transitions or transformations from level to level do occur.
The solution presented here concerns the existence of a stratification of ontologically levels, each with a different kind of non-physical subtle energies.
In concordance with the (hierarchical) psychological development of a human being, the activation of the levels of subtle energies follows a (hierarchical) developmental sequence as well. The subtle energies levels develop from the lowest level of low astral energies, to the next level of high astral energies all the way up to the highest level of high causal energies. With every level the energy-potentiality of the subtle energies presented at that level increases a manifold, because they are active on distinctly different and higher ontological levels.
In summary, during development subtle energies on a certain level are activated. After a period of time, these subtle energies reach a critical point (a certain energy intensity), after which they activate subtle energy of the same kind (same color) on the next, higher level. When this happens, a transformation from one stage to another stage within a particular developmental sequence takes place.

Spiritual development
During spiritual development deeper levels of consciousness come within reach. This is only possible when on deeper levels subtle energies are developed. Different levels of spiritual development are correlated with different levels of subtle energy. This development involves all of the five main groups of subtle energies mentioned above.

Maturation
Maturation concerns the emergence of personal and behavioral characteristics, laid down previously by humans in human history as collective accessible patterns on each of the twelve different vertical ontological levels, through growth processes. These collective accessible patterns were created by a combination of psychological-, biological-, social- and cultural processes during the evolutionary development of humans through history.
These collective accessible patterns are formed by the coupling process of subtle energies to the physical body. This requires time, for the lowest ontological subtle energies (low astral) connect with the physical body first. From there the coupling process works all the way up to the highest level of subtle energies obtained by a person in previous lives. For the subtle energies of each ontological level to become stably attached to the physical body, the physical body has to complexify its structure in order to match the increasing internal energy potential and operating parameters of the increasing levels of subtle energies. This involved activating and connecting new (higher) levels of subtle energies with the physical body. This meant the physical body had to complexify its structure in new and novel ways, requiring time before the higher levels of subtle energies were stably attached to the physical body.
From Ian Stevenson’s research on reincarnation we know that most people in a previous life where developed up to the level of formal operational, abstract and logical thinking. However these capacities become in the new reincarnated body only available at the age of about eleven years or older. This implies that the coupling of the subtle energy fields with the brain takes several years. This shows the successive activation.

Devas –Angels
The concept of supernatural beings may seem to the modern mind as a mythic-poetic concept which has no basis in reality, however some of the greatest thinkers claimed their existence, such as: Kurt Gödel, Alfred Russel Wallace, Socrates and Descartes. Angel/Devas exist of highly activated subtle energies and are fully conscious. It is however remarkable that while humans have five energy groups, the majority of the devas have only three energy groups.

Descartes’ problem is still one of the central problems within philosophy.

These subtle energies interact with the synaptic units in the brain.

Non-physical memory
There is a possible connection between subtle energies and non-physical memories (such as memories of former lives) and non-physical information fields, the Akashic –field (‘Kosmic memory’). See: Laszlo, Ervin; “Science and the Akashic Field”. According to Giordano Bruno, a memory, as soon as it became an inner image, was “stored” in a subtle non-physical medium. We find this concept in Indian philosophy as the Akashic field. The concept of a non-physical subtle body is also to be found among the nature philosophers: Robert Fludd, van Helmont, Cudworth, Berkley and Leibniz. In modern parapsychology and integral philosophy, the concepts of the Akashic field and subtle energies are found in the work of Henry Bergson in relation to memory, Rupert Sheldrake in his theory of morphogenetic fields, Professor Ian Stevenson, whose research deals with a non-physical memory. Ervin Laszlo, in his book “Cosmic Vision – The Dawn of the Integral Theory of Everything”[1], argues that the Akashic field theory solves a number of problems within quantum physics, such as non locality and quantum entanglement as well as solving the disputes between science and religion.

Non-physical worlds
Many cultures have concepts of “higher” worlds. Most of these descriptions find their origin in ‘out of the body’-experiences (OBE) and mystical experiences. They represent ontological, collective levels inhabited by conscious beings composed of subtle energies. Each of these worlds has distinct properties, such as the character of movement (various degrees of displacement across time and space), energetic structures and landscapes (distinct form appearances to more energetic appearances) and variance of time experience (from delay to instantaneousness).

Non-physical communication concerns the transfer of information (for example feelings, thoughts and higher dimensional resonance) between individuals by means other than the physical senses. Life after death
The question whether there is life after death boils down to one central issue: “Are there within a human, elements which survive the death of the physical body”. Subtle energies could provide the answer. The physical body is surrounded, enveloped and penetrated by different kinds of subtle energy fields called the aura. It is these fields that survive the death of the physical body, and will be the carrier of consciousness after death.

Consciousness: Oneness and the levels of consciousness
Consciousness and Unity:
According to Schrödinger “consciousness is a singular of which the plural is unknown; that there is only one thing and that what seems to be a plurality is merely a series of different aspects of this one thing, produced by a deception.”
In his books he refers to the Upanishads insight: “Atman = Brahman means the personal self equals the omnipresent, all-comprehending eternal self” To Schrödinger, consciousness is only One, singular and identifiable with its universal source: Brahman, the Absolute. The statement that “consciousness is One, singular” is similar to Plotinus’s famous statement that “the Absolute is one without a second”. In this mystical experiences the surrounding world is experienced as intensely alive. For the mystic it becomes clear that the non-physical energies which penetrate the Kosmos are not only alive but are also conscious.

Consciousness and levels of consciousness
The question one could ask is when consciousness is One, how can there be different levels of consciousness? That there are different levels of consciousness becomes apparent within academic research of developmental sequences related to psychological development. This is related to the existence of different levels of subtle energies. When subtle energies on a certain level are activated, then it becomes possible to be conscious on this level. For every level of consciousness there is a level of corresponding subtle energies. So consciousness deals with ontological levels, which is not the same as levels of complexity (see Roger Penrose’s “The Emperor’s New Mind” [2] who challenges the idea that complex computer systems will become conscious).

Dharmakaya
The Dharmakaya exist of subtle energies on the highest level of existence.
The Svabhavakaya is the Absolute and doesn’t exist of energy fields which are spatial.
the Svabhavakaya is not an assemblage of parts.
Why is there something instead of nothing?
The question why the Absolute (Brahman/ Svabhavakaya / The Godhead/ The One Without A Second) created the manifest worlds becomes clear when one compares the Non-dual state with High Causal Bhava Samadhi. In the Non-dual state, a mystic “sees” the state of the Absolute. In High Causal Bhava Samadhi a mystic experiences the final aim of creation, for which the manifest worlds were created in order for the collective to permanently develop.
This process is cumulative: it is increasing in quantity but also becoming more rapid. At a certain point it will reach a critical mass, and this process at the highest Kosmic level will become a collective transformation.

Mystical development
‘Mystical development’ stands for a process in which a mystic transcends the personal and the rational domains to enter the trans-personal domains. It is directly related to the development of subtle energies that exist on different levels. During this process there can appear several growth blockades, some of them are defense mechanisms. At the mystical levels one goes through stadia in which energetic blockades have to be removed.
From a mystical point of view, the Kosmos consists of different levels of existence. Alongside the physical there are different dimensions, different levels of consciousness. These dimensional levels are not spatially separated, but occupy the same space and mutually interpenetrate each other.
The development of subtle energies on higher levels
When a certain aura energy, for instance yellow, is strongly activated for long periods of time at a certain level, the energy intensity of that yellow energy on that level will reach a critical threshold. When this happens, the energy of the same colour (in this instance yellow) will be activated at a higher level.
Once the yellow energy at this higher level reaches a certain degree of activation, it will stabilize and then become permanent.

The ultimate meaning of life
The question “What is the meaning of life?” is one of the central questions of philosophy. The question will be answered differently by different people. The answer can refer to physiological needs, the need to find security, to belong to a group, to increase social status, to pursue knowledge, to live in harmony, etc. As one can see, these are developmental levels of meaning, which are subject to change as our understanding grows over time.
One could ask: “Is there some ultimate meaning of life which goes beyond all this?” This question is directly related to the mystical experience. While most existentialists will see life as meaningless, mystics see life as deeply meaningful.

The Kosmic meaning of life
The Kosmic meaning of life is directly related to the process of Kosmic involution and the subsequent process of Kosmic evolution. The Kosmic meaning of life has to do directly with the final result of both processes.
This is a Kosmic transformation, whereby the involutionary force is transformed through evolutionary unfolding into highly-activated forms of subtle energies which then return immensely enriched to their source.
The question one could ask is: “Why does this complex process of involution and evolution, which takes place over billions of years, happen? Why this involution and the creation of the physical world?”
The purpose and the result of this complex process is the activation of subtle energies at the highest level: The high-causal, the divine. This activation and energizing cannot be done directly at that level; the amount of energy necessary to do so cannot be generated directly at its own level.

Levels and subtle energy
As these fields of subtle energy at different levels are directly related to the levels themselves, one could say about these levels, using Jean Gebser’s terminology: “These transitions are structured jumps and not continuous” [3] (not a linear development). It means that these levels do not gradually flow over from one to the next. This explains why this energy could not directly be activated at its own level. Instead, Kosmic involution and evolution through a series of levels is necessary to create these energy fields on a high-causal level.
The meaning of life on a Kosmic scale, then, is the development of subtle energies, starting with the lowest level, the subtle energy which is connected with the emotions. This kind of subtle energy field can be easily activated, and requires much less force than the subtle energy fields at higher levels. What is more, from the subtle energies at the emotional level, higher levels can be activated, one by one through a series of levels up to the high-causal.
Matrices
Matrices are subtle energy structures that are placed in the human aura. They are geometric shapes, orb-like, 8 like etc. that are composed from light threads. Omega point Eschatology and subtle energies
In many mystical traditions there are concepts relating to the Ultimate destiny of humanity and the kosmos. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, a French Jesuit, did describe what he called “Omega point”. With this concept he expressed a process in which consciousness and existence evolves towards an ultimate convergence point, a final unity that he called the Omega point. This kosmic process has a meaning, a direction and a goal and when this Omega point is reached, it is irreversible. This final unification of the world was, in his words: “Not only survival but as super-life” (in: “The phenomenon of Man”, 1950). It is remarkable that we can find some aspects of the philosophy of Teilhard de Chardin in modern cosmology, in what is called the anthropic principle [4].
During the Axial Period around 500 BC there were several mystics who did reach an activation on the highest causal level (presumably for the first time in human history), these were temporarily high-causal bhava samadhi states (and not a permanent stage) and caused effects on a planetary scale.
The amount of energy released at the Axial Period however, is only a fraction of what will be generated by mystics when they reach permanent high-causal bhava samadhi stage.
When this permanent activation is realized at the highest level it will cause effects on a Kosmic scale.

Beyond “Omega-point”: Supramentalisation
With the activation on a Kosmic scale, a transformation will take place which Aurobindo called the descent of the Supermind (this goes further than Teilhard de Chardin’s Omega point). It unleashes the transformative power of the divine into the manifest worlds. This will not only be a transmutation on a terrestrial scale, but will include the whole Kosmos. This is because the energy level of the involutionary force will increase tremendously. Teilhard de Chardin called it extra-planetary.
The point toward the human evolution is heading is the Omega-point. What eventually will follow after the Omega-point, will mean that there will be a development in which high causal bhava samadhi will be reached collectively on a permanent basis, then the whole high causal level will be completely activated to an extraordinary degree.
When the high causal level is activated, the process called by Aurobindo the “Supramentalisation” starts. This leads to the (first) emanation/ involutionary force/ ’emanation stream’ (as mentioned earlier, it is still present during the evolutionary journey) becoming extraordinarily ‘charged’. The movement of the involutionary force all the way ‘down’ to the physical level, then penetrates all levels with an unimaginably high activated energy. This process is named the “second Emanation” and the “first feedback loop”.
In the first stages of this ‘second Emanation’ the newly, highly activated immanent force will reach the levels where the deva-evolution experienced a stand-still. These levels will now be energetically highly activated. As a consequence the energies of the devas gain enormous extra momentum. This makes it possible for them to finally reach the high causal level on a permanent basis. Within Christianity this concept is expressed as: ‘Salvation even has ramifications in the sphere of the angels’. (Angels is the Christian word for devas).
This generates the “Second feedback loop” and which one can name “Ultimate Divinisation”.
