(phenomenology)
Considering that the physical senses with their faculties of perception are lost with the death of the physical body, the question is what are the powers of perception one has in the super sensory worlds.
The following data are obtained by hundreds of out of the body experiences some of them spontaneous, some of them deliberately induced. The data are also based upon many mystical experiences by the author (MJM).
Visual perception – colour perception of three dimensional spatial structures,
. (persons, buildings, landscapes)
. – colour perception of three dimensional subtle energies,
. (auras, thought forms, orbs, waves of energy)
. – perception at a distance
. – seeing the bindu; the atman point / the monad.
Auditory perception – telepathic communication –audible as words and sounds
. – subtle energies audible as musical sounds
Taste perception – non-physical taste perception of high level subtle energies
. (nectar like)
Pressure perception –is present but different from physical pressure perception
. (more like feeling fields)
Cold perception – feeling of energetic currents
Warmth perception – highly energetic subtle energy concentration is perceived
. as warmth (aura energy of people, ecstatic glow)
. – feeling glowing radiation
. – feeling light radiation
Equilibrium perception – especially during floating, weightlessness
Movement perception – very strong especially during translocation (traveling)
. – perception of energy currents through chakras, nadis,
. auras and surrounding fields.
. – feeling of absolute motionless and at the same time
. incredible acceleration
Time perception – normal linear time progress to the future in one direction
. – simultaneously perceiving the present and the future
. – simultaneously perceiving the present and the past
. – simultaneously perceiving the present and the past and
. the future
. – the perception of teleological principle , forces
. – the perception of synchronicities
. – the perception of retro causal working attractors
. – the perception of destiny, providence
. – the perception of cyclical patterns
. – the perception of archetypical influences
. – the perception of seriality
Sense of direction -very strong capacity for spatial orientation, one can feel
. in which direction a person or a place is, by recognising
. an identity signal
Perception of the atmosphere of places, surroundings
Perception of higher levels of existence – mystical experiences
Perception of non-physical beings – perception of deva’s, angels.
Perception by emotional resonance – feeling the mood of others
Perception by telepathy – transfer of information by non-sensory means
Perception by mental resonance – feeling of impressions, information, mood
. and awareness of others by non-sensory means
Perception by mental communion – Unitive mental connection with other|
. person(s)
Perception by mental communication with humanity – mental connection with
. (total) humanity
Perception by union with humanity – trans sensory union with the whole of
. humanity
Perception by world process union – being a part of the immanent trans
. physical processes that penetrate the world
Perception by low subtle realm union – communication with subtle light
. energies
Perception by high subtle realm union – communication and union with subtle
. energy concentrations. Teleological forces
Perception by low causal union – union, oneness with Kosmic forces
Perception by high causal union/identity – Divine union, oneness.
Supreme identity.
Perception of form creating structures – archetypes, prototypes
Perception on another scale than 1 : 1
Perception on a microscopic level – for example the mitochondria
Perception on an atomic level – for example the atomic raster
Perception on a subatomic level – for example the superstring
Perception on a cosmic scale – for example the milky way
Perception of more dimensional spatial structures – structures which have
. more than 3 dimensions
Perception of transformational energies – transformations of energy levels
Perception of the evolutionary divine force
Perception of the ground of existence
Perception of unity of existence
Perception of world process energy concentration – feeling of immanent
. energies
Perception of low subtle energy concentration – ecstatic glow
Perception of high subtle energy concentration – flame like ecstasy
Perception of low causal energy concentration – nectar like ecstasy
Perception of high causal energy concentration – ecstatic radiation
Perception with a 360° field of vision
Perception of intuitions – direct insight in underlying patterns
Perception of inspirations – a stream of multiple insights
Perception of revelations – a stream of multiple inspirations
All existence levels have their own powers of perception, so visual perception of subtle energies (auras, thought forms, orbs, waves of energy) do not consist of one singular power of visual subtle energy perception but a layered group of similar powers of perception.
Some of these powers of perception are directly present after death, others become available with the passing of time. Either after practice or after one brings on fundamental changes in the way the mind functions.

A particular kind of vision is what is called a doppel-ganger:
In Ancient Egyptian mythology, a ka was a tangible “spirit double” having the same memories and feelings as the person to whom the counterpart belongs. The Greek Princess presents an Egyptian view of the Trojan War in which a ka of Helen misleads Paris, helping to stop the war. This is depicted in Euripides’ play Helen. In Norse mythology, a vardøger is a ghostly double who is seen performing the person’s actions in advance. In Finnish mythology, this is called having an etiäinen,”a firstcomer”
German playwright Goethe described an experience in his autobiography Dichtung und Wahrheit in which he and his double passed one another on horseback:
Goethe: ”I now rode on horseback over the footpath to Drusenheim. When one of the strangest experiences befell me. Not with the eyes of the body, but with those of the spirit, I saw myself on horseback coming toward me on the same path dressed in a suit as I had never worn, pale-gray with some gold. As soon as I had shaken myself out of this reverie the form vanished. It is strange however that I found myself returning on the same path eight years afterward to visit Fredericka once more and that I then wore the same suit I had dreamt of, and this not by design but by chance.”
On a personal note:
At the age of eight, my grandfather from my mother’s side had just died, and my mother took me to him to say goodbye. He lay on the bed as if he was sleeping, then the conversation (of which I didn’t take part) went on to the question whether there was life after death, and that nobody did know the answer to that.
Suddenly I saw a vision of a person in his mid-Thirties standing in the room at a distance of about three meters. There was the realisation that this was my future self, in my mid-Thirties and that I would know the answer to the question whether there was life after death.
At my mid-Thirties my appearance was exactly as I saw it in this vision, and that the part of this website which deals with life after death, I wrote in my mid-Thirties.
The vision lasted several minutes and then disappeared.
