The ‘silver cord’ is the connection between the physical body and the mental body.
The term the silver cord is derived from Ecclesiastes 12: 6-7 King James Version:
6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.
7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Sometimes, when people had an out of the body experience, they describe a connection between the physical body and the mental body, a ‘silver cord’
The existence of the ‘silver cord’ is mentioned in the Bible, but also in many other cultures, in his book “Out of the body experiences” Robert Crookall presents the following data:
Shamans – a vine, a chain, a cord
Australia – a cord, a rope
Asia – a ribbon
Hawaii – a ribbon
Japan – a ribbon
Mesopotamia – a ribbon
North Africa – a rope
Tibet – a rope
Manchuria – a rope
India – a rope
Africa – a tread
Central Asia – a tread
Hungary – a stick
New Zealand – a vine
As a source Robert Crookall mentions Professor Mircea Eliade’s classic study: ”Shamanism, 1964.” This cross-cultural data shows that the “silver cord” was described in cultures where one was unable to read or write (and consequently to obtain ideas at second hand from Europeans).
Professor C.J. Ducasse pointed out that, if astral projectors descriptions of a “silver cord” which united the “double” to the body should prove to be the actual state of affairs, then these “doubles” would not – as most psychiatrists and medical men suppose – be mental images of physical bodies but” sights ….of something objectively present at the place where they are perceived.”
The ‘silver cord’ that is referred to is connection between the physical body and the mental body. The cord has been described as: ”A silver-colored, elastic cord, described as being smooth, very long, very bright, like an elastic cable made of light, about an inch wide, an elastic-like cable which joined the back of the head of his conscious self, which “extends and contracts as an elastic cord, a coil of light”, “a lighted cord”, a silvery-like light, a slender, slightly luminous cord.”
Locations where the ‘silver cord’ is observed and described to be connected with: “The head, the chest, the navel area, like cable that connects the back of the head of the conscious self, with a spot between the eyes of the physical body in bed.”
There is a correlation between the locations where the ‘silver cord’ is connected with, and the spiritual centres, the Chakras within the body.
The attachment point of the cord to the physical body corresponds to the rings behind the chakra’s. The rings and the chakra’s exist on multiple ontological levels of existence. In an out of the body state the higher rings and the chakra’s split from the etheric / half physical rings and the chakra’s.
When this process starts a cone like structure is formed situated in front of a chakra and slowly a cord which looks transparent, silvery is formed.
The length of the ‘silver cord’ has sometimes been described as a few meters, but my own observations made clear that the cord can be many kilometres long.

On a personal note:
These Out of the Body Experiences which where there already at the age of five generally a few a month, as still as the case, sometimes several a week, once at the age of eight during an OBE, the perception was that in this state I had a non-physical body that was an exact replica of my physical body (at the age of eight).
There was a cord connected to the back of my head, it was silver in colour, be it transparent, the cord which was at the left side of my body and went into a tunnel of 6 meters across.
